Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of roof plumbers working in residential, commercial and industrial construction environments. Roof plumbers install, maintain and repair roof drainage systems, flashings, metal roof and wall cladding, gutters, downpipes and rainwater products.
The qualification includes core skills and knowledge required to work safely and effectively in the construction and plumbing services industries, together with specialised roof plumbing competencies required to install roofing, drainage and rainwater collection systems. Weekly Study Commitment
- 15 hours face-to-face classroom and practical training

Total Scheduled Learning: 20 hours per week
Supplementary classes may be scheduled where required due to public holidays, missed classes, or reassessment requirements.

International students must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have completed Year 12 or equivalent.
- Participate in a pre-enrolment interview and pre-training review.
- Demonstrate sufficient Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills.
- Provide evidence of English language proficiency equivalent to:
- IELTS Overall Band Score of 6.0; or
- An equivalent recognised English language test score.
English language evidence may also be demonstrated through previous studies completed in English, subject to college assessment requirements.
Students must be physically capable of undertaking practical roof plumbing activities, including:
- Standing for extended periods
- Working at heights and on sloping roof surfaces
- Climbing ladders and access systems
- Lifting and carrying roofing materials and sheet metal products
- Using hand tools, power tools and specialised roof plumbing equipment
- Measuring, cutting, fabricating and installing roofing and drainage components
- Working in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Performing practical tasks in workshop and simulated work environments
Students should possess an appropriate level of physical fitness to safely undertake practical training
activities associated with roof plumbing work.
Students must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during practical training and workshop activities.
PPE may include:
- Safety boots
- High-visibility clothing
- Safety glasses
- Gloves
- Hard hat
- Hearing protection
- Fall protection equipment where required
Students must comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, safe work method statements, and trainer instructions during practical sessions.
