We deliver the CPC30620 – Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, a nationally recognised qualification built around the practical, hands-on training you need to work confidently on residential and commercial painting projects across Sydney and NSW. It’s the standard entry qualification for anyone working toward a painting licence or apprenticeship in the state.
This course runs from our Parramatta campus, with practical workshop sessions at our dedicated Seven Hills facility. You’ll cover surface preparation, brush, roller and spray application, colour matching, wallpapering, and decorative finishes, alongside the workplace health and safety knowledge SafeWork NSW expects on every job site.
We are a registered RTO (RTO Number: 41244) and a CRICOS approved provider (CRICOS Number: 04146E), so both local and international students in Sydney can enrol with confidence.
About the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (CPC30620)
This nationally recognised qualification is built to take you from first-time painter to job-ready tradesperson across residential, commercial, and industrial projects in Sydney. You’ll combine practical, hands-on training with the theoretical knowledge needed to work safely and to a professional standard on real job sites.
Over the course, you’ll work through interior and exterior surface preparation, application techniques using brush, roller, and spray equipment, colour theory and colour matching, wallpapering, and decorative finishing methods used across the Sydney construction and renovation industry. Training also covers workplace health and safety compliance, an area SafeWork NSW audits closely on active sites, so you graduate knowing exactly what’s expected of you before you ever step onto a client’s property.
This qualification matters beyond the classroom too. It’s a recognised pathway for painters working toward formal trade licensing in NSW, and it sits alongside our other trade qualifications, including the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry and CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction, for students who want to build toward a broader construction career.
Who is it for? Anyone entering the painting trade in Sydney, current apprentices wanting a formal qualification, and experienced painters who want their skills nationally recognised.
