Course structure

12 units of competency

To achieve this qualification you must demonstrate competency in 6 core units and 6 elective units. Of the 6 elective units, at least 4 must come from the approved elective list. The remaining 2 units may come from the elective list, or from a Certificate IV or above in any currently endorsed Training Package, as long as they are relevant to your work environment and support a valid, industry-recognised vocational outcome.

Assessment

How you will be assessed

Assessments are based on real workplace situations that meet industry standards, carried out in a simulated work environment to assess hands-on competency, collaboration and time management.

Methods include project work, presentations, reports, portfolios, case studies and short-answer questions. Assessment tasks:

Materials provided

Students are provided with clear instructions, templates and resources for each assessment task, an assessment plan for tracking due dates, and a cover sheet to be submitted with each task. Supporting documents, policies and procedures are set out in the student and assessor guides.

Re-assessment and appeals

Students who do not meet competency requirements on an assessment have the opportunity to reassess, with the process and criteria provided in advance. Students may appeal assessment outcomes if they believe an assessment was not conducted fairly, under the college’s formal review process aligned with regulatory standards.

Course credit and RPL

You can apply for course credit using past skills and experience, through credit transfer or recognition of prior learning. For international students, approved credit may reduce both your fees and your course duration, with written notice of the outcome and a new CoE if approved after your original CoE was issued.

Provide your Year 12 evidence and English results. If you do not meet the English requirement, complete the LLN test.

How much does BSB50420 cost at Pacific College Sydney?

The tuition fee is AU$10,000 and non-tuition fees are AU$1,500, giving an estimated total course cost of AU$11,500 for the full 52-week qualification. Approved course credit or recognition of prior learning may reduce both the fee and the duration.

How long is the course?

52 weeks in total: 40 weeks of training and assessment plus 12 weeks of scheduled breaks, delivered in 10-week terms with 3-week breaks. Study is 20 hours per week, made up of 15 hours face-to-face on campus and 5 hours online.

Where is the course delivered?

At Level 4, 79 George Street, Parramatta NSW 2150, Sydney. Face-to-face classes are held on campus, with the online component completed remotely.

Do I need leadership experience to enrol?

No prior leadership or management experience is required. The course suits team leaders and supervisors wanting formal recognition, working professionals moving into management, and recent Year 12 graduates seeking a direct pathway into a management career. If you do have relevant experience, you may be able to apply for course credit.

What English level do I need?

Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, or Upper-Intermediate level English, or successful completion of an approved EAP course from an ELICOS or ESL centre. Applicants who do not meet these will need to complete an LLN test before enrolment.

How many units do I have to complete?

12 units: 6 core and 6 elective. Of the electives, at least 4 must come from the approved elective list, and the remaining 2 may come from the elective list or from a relevant Certificate IV or higher qualification.

Can I get credit for skills or study I already have?

Yes, through credit transfer for units completed at another RTO, or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for skills gained through work experience. Both can reduce your study time and may affect your fees. You will receive written notice of the outcome, and a new CoE showing the updated duration if credit is approved after your original CoE was issued.

What happens if I am assessed as not yet competent?

You have the opportunity to be reassessed, with the process and criteria explained in advance. If you believe an assessment was not conducted fairly, there is a formal appeals process that operates in line with regulatory standards.

What qualification do I receive?
